Dart Adams presents A Tale Of Ten Trailers 8 AKA The Bruce Lee Edition

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the death of not only one of the greatest martial artists and action/Kung Fu film stars of all times (if not the greatest), but also one of the biggest counterculture icons as well. Bruce Lee revolutionized the film industry, the entire martial world and he also opened the eyes of people all over the globe to the possibilities of film and the beauty of Asian martial arts. He developed a following that included people of all walks of life.

When Bruce Lee was fighting for the rights of Chinese people in his films, he still represented and embodied every man amd woman who was being held down. As he beat back wace after wave of attackers he inspired people in their everyday lives to go after their dreams with the same intensity. When he opened his doors and taught people of all walks of life (AKA gwai lo) Chinese martial arts techniques he was a revolutionary. When he pretty told the entire martial world that his fighting system Jeet Kune Do took out all of the wasted movement and rehearsed routines to focus on taking your opponent down the quickest way possible he was beyond being revolutionary...he was seen as a heretic and blasphemer.

Bruce Lee was a Asian man in America that had to deal with the glass ceiling that prevented him from reaching his full potential. He instead went to China and became a global sensation. By the time Hollywood decided to come to their senses and let Bruce helm his first big budget film with US funding he passed away two months before the film could be seen and turn him into the international superstar he was destined to be. He went back to the essence on July 20, 1973 at age 32.

In order to see all of the missing footage of "The Game Of Death" and hear and see Bruce Lee's original vision of the film before the studio completely butchered it (and "Circle Of Iron") just buy a copy of "Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey". The 30 minutes of film Bruce Lee shot is 50x better than the entire version of "Game Of Death" that the studio put out hands down.

Due to my laptop still being dead I don't have the time to write out lead ins for each trailer. For any info on these flicks you'll have to hit up IMDb because I only have about 30 more minutes to get this post in. I apologize for the inconvience but I decided to go with more major studio productions and action films rather than the indie fare I normally post to balance it out. Enjoy:

yes yes yes...Bruce Lee= Legend, and a man that Hollywood made a mistake think he was just some lil chinese yes man. A visionary, dreamer, and imaginative...bet if he was still alive he would have killed movies for the next what 3 decades, then became a great director himself.

and yes all the those movies are ones I have a big interest in(except you forgot T4, man do I wanna see that!)...esp Benjamin Button. On point as usual Dart. I was actually gonna do a lil blog on the Button movie.

I don't do teasers...I won't post up the Terminator: Salvation trailer until they have a full one up. Thats why I waited on "Eagle Eye" until today.

the watchmen has one of the best trailers i've seen in a while.... 'the end is the beginning is the end' by smashing pumpkins was a GREAT choice.

i just picked up the graphic novel from the library... should be a good read.

i like shia too so I'm looking forward to eagle eye. PLUS it's another one that was shot in my city - CHICAGO... that was one of the reasons I loved TDK as well.... they really turned Chicago into Gotham City for that movie. Brilliant cinematography.
