Sunday afternoon they jumped it up in The Jungle for the right to move on and challenge for the NBA Championship. The Boston Celtics lept out to an early lead in Game 7 of their 1st round series with the Atlanta Hawks and they never looked back. The Celtics lead was predicated on lockdown defense as Kendrick “The Hulk” Perkins (10 pts 10 reb 5 blk in 26 min) and Kevin Garnett (18 pts 11 reb 4 ast 1 blk in 27 min) controlled the paint.
The score was 42-26 at halftime and once the 3rd quarter started the Celtics decided to step on the Hawks throats and not let up. This led to a hard foul by Marvin Williams on a streaking Rajon Rondo at 9:09 left in the 3rd quarter with the score 51-28 that ultimately led to his ejection from the game.
When it was all said and done, the Celtics earned the right to advance to the next round and play last year’s Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers by eradicating the Hawks 99-65 in front of a sellout crowd. Boston inproved to 4-0 at home in the playoffs and punkass Mike Bibby only scored 2 pts with 4 reb and 2 ast in 25 total minutes.
His only points in the entire game came with 3:23 left in the 1st quarter. The Garden faithful got to see Gino at the end of the 3rd quarter. That what you get for those videos you showed in Atlanta (for the record, every Bostonian who appeared in those videos should be ashamed of themselves on the real).
The Celtics won in convincing fashion in front of a national audience by holding Atlanta to 29% shooting from the field behind 10 blocks and 11 steals. The Boston defense also forced 16 turnovers and scored 27 points off of them.
In addition, Boston had 20 total assists to Atlanta’s anemic 11. The Atlanta Hawks fire, youth, length, lateral quickness, fearlessness, anger and athleticism caused several matchup problems for the Celtics in this first round series. In the end, veteran leadership, home cooking and team pride won out. In the 4 games in Boston (192 total game minutes) Atlanta only held a lead for a total of 4 minutes and 53 seconds. That spells out total domination.
Tomorrow, LeBron James will bring the Cleveland Cavaliers to The Jungle. I’m sure he saw that massacre that happened there last night in HD. I can’t wait for Tuesday to see how it all goes down.

I'm mad. I kept falling asleep on this game. Not cuz it sucked but because I was going on 3 hours of shut eye!
I'm glad they had a statement game. I'm on the Boston bandwagon.
