Gone Since November AKA Dartflix Edition #28

I apologize for not putting up one of these for December but it got so damn crazy that month that I never able to collect enough info to make a sufficient post. Now that I have the ability to do so, I'll hit y'all off the 28th edition of my Dartflix series. It sucks that people have been sent back to work while the writer's strike is still going on. Nothing is weirder than seeing Conan O' Brien, Jay Leno, David Letterman and John Stewart left to their own devices this past week or so.
Several productions have been halted and layoffs may be forthcoming soon (I sure hope that won't be the case) at major film studios. Hopefully, things can get resolved soon because there is only so much reality TV that one can take before they just snap. Let's jump into the movies, shall we?

Dart’s Find Of The Month (January 2008):

Winter Soldier
Back in January 1971, an organization called Veterans Against The War rounded up approximately 100 young men that served in the Vietnam War. They rounded them up in a Detroit hotel and they gave compelling testimony as to events that happened during their individual tours of duty. The things they say they saw, did or participated in are shocking as hell. There was a documentary made featuring some of this testimony and it was released in 1972 and dubbed “Winter Soldier”.

It was dismissed as bunk and full of lies by the government and several of the soldiers who gave testimony were caused grief as the government tried to discredit them and painted many of them as cowards and liars. The documentary then disappeared for almost 25 years. After the events that happened at Abu Graib came to light, the director and producers got together and made sure that this film was fixed and made into a DVD. Here it is...I didn’t think it would even exist!

Where In The Hell Are These Flicks At? (The “Announced In 2006” Edition):

Killshot

The Tournament

Dart’s Picks:

Blade Runner: The Final Cut: They finally fixed the only flaws in one of the greatest films ever made. It also looks 10X better than the previous DVD version does.

I Am Legend: Damn, this was good. See what happens when they let you act, Will?

Eastern Promises: Grimy like East London (that a good thing). Vincent Cassel is the man! (so is Viggo Mortensen).

Death Sentence: This wasn’t anything like I thought it would be. Rent it now.

Shoot Em Up: This is exactly what I thought it would be. Rent this as well.

Juno: I just wish all teenage pregnancies could be this enjoyable.

Cloverfield: I’m gonna see the fuck outta this.

The Great Debaters: Go to the theater and see this movie if you can instead of that other bullshit that’s out. Maybe they’ll get the idea to keep making films like this.

Dart’s WTF? Award/Watch This Bullshit At Your Own Risk:

Hot Rod: Hot garbage.

Walk Hard: The Legend Of Dewey Cox: I thought this would actually be funny..thank God I didn’t pay to see it.

Wall-E: I didn’t like this the first time I saw it back when I was a kid when it was called “Short Circuit” .

First Sunday: Damn you, Ice Cube. Damn you, Tracy Morgan. Damn you, Katt Williams.

Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins: This is the first in a line of horrible movies Martin Lawrence will star in this year. Y’all have been warned.

What the future still holds for comic book films:

Iron Man (2008)

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Wanted (2008)

The Dark Knight (2008)

Watchmen (2009)

Shazam (2009)

JLA (Justice League Of America) (2009)

One.

Didn't really realize how much I missed Dartflix till now. Hancock looks like it could be pretty good. I just hope it's not a kids flick.
