Beware The Ides Of March! AKA Dartflix Edition #53

So "Watchmen" came out and all of the people that didn't read the graphic novel and thought they were gonna see a popcorn flick thought that it was slow and boring. "Watchmen" stans like myself had these long discussions about what was in the film and omitted from the film that we liked and disliked. I feel that the omission of Hollis (the original Nite Owl)'s key scenes. The discussions between Hollis, Doctor Manhattan, Ozymandias and The Comedian really took away from the impact of the film to me. Also, the fact that few people remember the Cold War years and just how serious the threat of nuclear war was in the 80's really dulled the film's impact as well.

A few other flicks came out since like "Tokyo!", "Sunshine Cleaning", "Last House On The Left", "The Horsemen", "Knowing", "Duplicity" and "I Love You, Man" but the highlight of this month was clearly "Watchmen". Since it was so much of a mindfuck that required extra reading and discussion after viewing it (not to mention two DVD's of the motion comic AND "The Black Freighter"/"Under The Hood" released in association with the film) it wasn't surprising that the film experienced a significant dip at the box office in the past few weeks. This wasn't going to be a blockbuster like "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man"...not by a longshot. It's just hilarious to see Rorshach become the new Wolverine, though.

Rent/Watch these movies at your own risk:

Knowing: We all knew it was gonna suck. It did. We're all psychcic!

The Haunting In Connecticut: The actual story is always scarier than the film. That Emily Rose flick sucked in comparison to the actual story even though a lot of it had explanations. Read up on it.

Marley & Me: Old Yeller with pretty people in it.

Punisher: War Zone: How did they manage to make a worse Punisher film? It's the easiest one of the bunch to make!

Goal 2: Living The Dream: Soccer isn't big here. It just isn't.

Walled In: Good! Stay there and die dumbasses!

I can't begin to mention the contempt I have for the DragonBall Evolution film.

I'm not a serious DragonBall Z fan, but damn!! Paul Mooney wasn't lying when he said Hollywood is on crack.
