Welcome To The Horrorshow...Again AKA Dartflix Edition #67

This romantic comedy with everyone of the film poster with the exception of the only people of color "Couples Retreat" easily took the top spot during the weekend of October 9th by generating an impressive $34.3 million dollars. It beat out it's nearest competitor "Zombieland" by $20 million dollars in box office receipts. Damn! "Paranormal Activity" expanded to 160 theaters and raked in a staggering $7.9 million that weekend. That was an 1384% increase from the previous weekend as well as $49, 379 per screen/theater take...that's ridiculous. This film's viral campaign and word of mouth could change the film industry the same way the "Blair Witch Project's" did. Too bad the film itself didn't age well.

The very next week, "Where The Wild Things Are" took the top spot at the weekend box office by pulling down $32. 7 million in North America alone. Spike Jonze's adaptation of the world famous Maurice Sendak children's book was highly anticipated and fans as well as critics were impressed by it for the most part. To some, it couldn't compete with the book. That's understandable. It's also one of the reasons I haven't seen it yet myself, I don't want to be disappointed with it. I've avoided the making of documentaries as well. Maybe I'll watch it with my nephew on the weekend. We'll see, I guess.

The film that took the second spot behind "Where The Wild Things Are" was the Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler vehicle "Law Abiding Citizen". It's $21 million dollar take would've been impressive if not for the fact that it was in 2890 theaters while "Paranormal Activity" made $19.6 million in the same amount of time in only 763 total theaters. That's almost a 150% improvement and a sick $25, 711 take per theater/screen. This past weekend it took the top spot at the box office from "Saw VI" by making $22 million dollars in 1945 theaters nationwide.

The "Saw" franchise usually has $30 million dollar plus openings. This weekend? "Saw VI" didn't even make $15 million! "Paranormal Activity" has made more than $62 million at the box office to date and it only cost $7 million to make. Be afraid, be very afraid. Guerilla marketing is back, people. Whomever bought this film is the man/woman at their film studio right now. Enough of this, let's get down to the recommendations.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen: Michael Bay doesn't care about Black people...or movie fans at all for that matter.

The Stepfather: The original was a classic. This one isn't.

Saw VI: There's nothing I can do to stop it. They've already greenlit Saw VII & VIII. Fuck! Why can't THIS franchise die instead?

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant: This REALLY looks like it's gonna suck...

Orphan: That little girl creeps me the fuck out, man. Seriously....*Makes a cross with fingers*

Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs: Die motherfucker, die motherfucker, die! © Scarface

Wrong Turn 3: Get a fuckin' GPS already!
