Soil & "Pimp" Sessions is a funky ass Japanese Jazz band/ensemble that has captured the ears and imaginations of music fans the world over. Giles Peterson of Brownswood Recordings over in the UK even had to sign them. After you hear "Pimpin'", "Pimp Master", "Pimp Of The Year", "Pimpoint" & "Planet Pimp" you'll be a fan. I thought I was the only Soil & "Pimp" fan I knew of until I saw Sweeney Kovar post a link to this on Twitter. After that I knew I had to put these cats on my next musicians, producers and beatmakers you need to hear right now list.

I feel like I've been hearing MoSS' name forever now. His beats always grabbed the attention of the listener and sent you looking for the liner notes. I remember back when Dan Green @ Clockwork Music became his manager. The big name placements came fast and furious and the heat rocks multiplied. 2009 might be MoSS biggest year to date. The itinerary? First, drop a collaborative LP titled "At Last" with highly respected femcee Eternia. Next, he announced a collabo LP with old friend Obie Trice. If you've slept on him for the past decade you simply just can't afford to anymore.

Most people know Marv Won as a reputed battle emcee and one of the Fat Killahz, an severely underrated crew of dudes with BARS. What many heads fail to realize is that Marv Won is a talented producer as well. I'm not just writing this in fear that if I don't a couple of fat dudes in Burn Rubber gear will find me, beat me within an inch of my life then ask me where they can get a good steak & cheese in the South End. The bullshit is that I've been hearing his beats for years but on Discogs they only have ONE placement listed. Don't sleep on Marv's ear for beats cuz I know he stays chefing up new heat in the lab.

Stro The 89th Key (The Procussions)

Stro is the man behind The Procussions albums "...As Iron Sharpens Iron", "Up All Night", "5 Sparrows For 2 Cents", he also contributed tracks to Deux Process' "In Deux Time" as well as Lightheaded's "Wrong Way", Poems' "Blooming Sounds", Mr. J. Medeiros' "Of Gods And Girls" and "Friends Enemies Apples Apples". If for any reason you weren't aware of his previous material or his extensive back catalog now you know.
